Endeavour Group pubs and bottle shops take $9m hit from floods

Increased foot traffic at pubs was unable to offset declining bottle shop sales for Endeavour Group (ASX: EDV) in the third quarter, with the Woolworths Group (ASX: WOW) spin-off also counting the cost of floods for some of its BWS outlets and iconic bars.

Total revenue for the quarter ending on 3 April was down 2.1 per cent year-on-year, albeit this was influenced by the timing of Easter - normally a busy sales period - which fell in the fourth quarter this year.

The group has had to contend with the impact of recent floods and adverse weather across parts of New South Wales and Queensland, which caused roughly $9 million worth of damages.

Brisbane EV charging unicorn Tritium enters deal with BP

Brisbane-headquartered Tritium (NASDAQ: DCFC) will play a role in energy giant BP's (NYSE: BP) transition to electrification after entering a multi-year contract to supply the multinational with direct current (DC) chargers and related services as it rolls out a global electric vehicle (EV) charging network.

Tritium shares surged 12.21 per cent to $9.56 following the announcement that forms a "step change in the strategic nature of the relationship between both companies", with an initial order for the UK and Australian & New Zealand markets of just under 1,000 chargers.

The news comes three weeks after BP announced plans for its largest-ever EV charging expansion to invest £1 billion ($1.77 billion) over 10 years through its pulse business in the UK, where in 2018 it acquired the country's industry leader Chargemaster for £130 million ($230 million).

BAFTA Game Awards: ‘Unpacking’ scoops two top prizes for Brisbane couple

Aussies Tim Dawson and Wren Brier picked up two prestigious gongs for their zen-inspired game Unpacking at the BAFTA Game Awards, held at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London last Thursday night.

Unpacking picked up the EE Game of the Year award, voted for by the public, and scooped the best narrative award for their game based on challenging users to pull possessions out of boxes and fit them into a new home.

Developed by Witch Beam, a small indie studio based in Brisbane that Dawson co-founded alongside Sanatana Mishra and Jeff van Dyck in 2013, Unpacking is the second project from the developers behind arcade-style action game Assault Android Cactus.
