10 Simple Ways Businesses Can Cut Energy Costs

 Hi there,

I do not have much knowledge about energy saving but recently I was introduced to improving energy efficiency in my workplace. I was astounded by the impact of using energy efficient appliances and lighting in the office. I have been amazed by the things that can be done to reduce dependency on electricity. I have decided that I will get a solar panel for my office, which will help me to power up the whole building at a much lesser cost. Besides solar panel, we will be using more natural light and ventilation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It has been an eye-opening experience. To know more about this, do read the article shared below.

Ultra-fast internet provider GigaComm secures $20.5m to roll out mmWave vision

Endeavor Asset Management and Palisade Impact have backed ultra-fast internet provider GigaComm in a $20.5 million oversubscribed funding round that will support the telco’s foray into Brisbane and Canberra.

The Melbourne-based outfit claims to deliver speeds up to a Gigabit per second, which is more than 10 times faster than the national download average in Australia. The network, which incorporates an optical fibre and fixed wireless technology known as mmWave, is completely independent and bypasses the National Broadband Network (NBN).

mmWave is a short-range, high-frequency network technology delivered via small antennae, typically placed on the roofs of buildings. The frequencies are capable of carrying similar capacities to fibre, without the need to dig up streets and lay cables.

Brisbane patisserie chain Le Bon Choix caters to rising kneads with $5m production facility

Brisbane boulangerie and patisserie chain Le Bon Choix will open its ninth outlet in August after recently moving into a $5 million state-of-the-art production facility in Brendale, following "huge demand" that has prompted ambitious expansion plans.

At Le Bon Choix, which means "The Good Choice" in French, the decision to set up the 1,600sqm facility would have been a 'choix très difficile' for director and founder Savico Basset-Rouge, taking a leap of faith to grow the French Renaissance-style Queensland institution.

The home-grown company will open its next outlet in Indooroopilly in August, adding to retail outlets in Edward and Queen Streets in Brisbane CBD, in Ascot, Carindale, Chermside, North Lakes, Upper Mt Gravatt, and at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.

Brisbane's South Bank celebrates 30 years since its opening. And Donna Smith has been working there the whole time

1992. Wayne Goss was the premier. Jim Soorley was the lord mayor. Interest rates were falling. Billy Ray Cyrus's Achy Breaky Heart was topping the Australian charts.

And at the South Bank Parklands, you could ride a boat.

When it opened 30 years ago this week, thousands of balloons were released, colouring the sky above an excited crowd, in what an ABC News report at the time described as the biggest celebration since Expo 88.

Donna Smith was there. She was 16 and working in her father's lolly shop, which opened at South Bank the same day.

"I remember it being extremely busy. And lots and lots of people coming in and out of the store and even lining up to get in. It was crazy," Ms Smith said.
